Meriam Ben Hadj Tahar, MD is a comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery and the diagnosis and treatment of complex eye disease, including glaucoma, dry eye disease, and diabetic eye disease.


Dr. Ben Hadj Tahar grew up in the north suburbs of Chicago and is passionate about caring for and giving back to the communities that helped shape her. She is dedicated to helping patients preserve and improve their vision, with the goal of enhancing quality of life through compassionate, personalized eye care.


A strong believer in global health and patient advocacy, Dr. Ben Hadj Tahar has advocated for improved patient care at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Mid-Year Forum. She has also helped create and participate in global health and volunteer initiatives in several countries including China, Canada, Morocco, Tunisia, Guatemala, and Algeria, further strengthening her commitment to expanding access to vision-saving care.


Dr. Ben Hadj Tahar greatly enjoys mentorship, global health work, and community service. She speaks four languages and is passionate about building meaningful and long-lasting connections with her patients.
